Education and Training

The Education and Training program offers professional development services for economic development practitioners. Its provides instruction in the fundamentals of comprehensive community and economic development and includes a practical and theoretical course of study. Workshops, seminars, and conferences are coordinated in partnership with local economic development councils and non-profit associations.

Classes offer intensive training in the basic concepts, methods, and strategies of local economic development. Subjects range in all areas of economic development including business attraction, marketing, business retention, tourism, financing, planning, and international trade.  The education and training program also produces practical guides in specific subjects for those practitioners unable to attend classes.

The International Economic Development Council, the association that oversees and awards certificates in the profession, accredits many of the courses offered.
