Eligible Applicants for the CSBG Block Grant
States and Tribes are required to submit annual applications to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Office of Community Services. Applicants must make specified assurances, which are mandated in the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) Act. The Washington State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development works together with local Community Action Agencies to prepare a State Plan, which describe how the State will carry out the required assurances.
Low Income Eligibility
The criterion for eligibility in the Community Service Block Grant Program is household income at or below 125 percent of poverty. The term ‘poverty line’ means the official poverty line defined by the Office of Management and Budget based on the most recent data available from the Bureau of the Census.
