                    The Safe and Drug-Free Communities Unit works in partnership with local governments, community-based organizations and individuals, and state and federal agencies to reduce substance abuse and violence and their related social impacts.

What Services and Programs are available to Local Governments and Community Members?

  • Partnerships with non-profit, local, federal and tribal organizations to improve the coordination and efficiency of services delivered.
  • Financial and technical assistance to partners working to reduce substance abuse and violence.
  • Building state and community capacity to effectively measure the outcomes of substance abuse and violence reduction projects.
  • Facilitate the communications of substance abuse and violence reduction issues with the public and with policy makers.
  • Allocate public resources based on needs identified by communities, and ensure that resources are used effectively.
  • Current Calendar-of-Events for Community Mobilization, and the Governors Council on Substance Abuse.
