Drug Interdiction Participation Program
The Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development provides federal Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funds to the Washington State Patrol for their law enforcement officers' participation in JAG funded Drug Interdiction Organization to enhance regional drug interdiction strategy statewide.
The program enables Law Enforcement Drug Interdiction Organizations:
WSP assists the JAG Grant State Administering Agency to monitor and provide technical assistance to law enforcement drug interdiction units and agencies, statewide.
Participation by WSP in the Drug Interdiction Program has allowed WSP to build a strong narcotics section in support of the statewide JAG Grant funded Program. Participation by WSP officers as both investigators and supervisors in most drug interdiction organizations. Participation by WSP with CTED is as a staff resource for law enforcement expertise in monitoring and technical assistance and support to drug interdiction organizations and personnel. The drug interdiction organizations are enhanced with the additional staffing and professional law enforcement capacity provided through the Participation Program, statewide.
