Membership

    Commission members are appointed by the Governor to serve four-year, staggered terms.  Initially, some members were appointed to two-year terms.

The Chair of the Commission is elected by the Commission.

Members meet monthly and pay their own travel expenses.  Members are staffed by CTED and other state agencies as appropriate.

The Commission will broaden its base by requesting assistance and input from community members and business leaders across the state. The Commission will set up community meetings and empower task forces for this purpose.

Connie Bacon of Tacoma is a former executive director of the World Trade Center Tacoma and served as a special assistant to former Washington Governor Booth Gardner.  She is on the board of the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, the Asia Pacific Cultural Center, the Regional Access Mobility Project and the Tideflats Rail Oversight Committee.  Bacon is a member of the advisory board for the Port of Tacoma Endowed Chair at the University of Washington-Tacoma.

A longtime professional in the hotel and hospitality industry, she has held the position of hotel general manager and worked in leadership positions for the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association on regional, national and international levels.  Prior to her first term as Representative from the 10th Legislative District, Rep.
