Redevelopment is the ultimate goal of the Brownfields Coalition. Yes, we want to protect the health of our neighborhoods by removing contamination, but we really want to see those neighborhoods thrive by converting bad land to good use.

 

Redeveloping a brownfield can get very expensive beyond just the costs of cleanup: infrastructure improvements, business development, housing and other environmental issues can all add up to a hefty price tag. The Brownfields Loan Fund can be used with other federal, state and local programs as well as private financial resources to help you cover more of the costs.

 

We can also help you find other funding sources. For example, EPA grants for assessment and cleanup are available to municipalities, Native American tribes and nonprofit organizations. Other fund sources include state and federal grants, low-interest loans and tax incentives. And brownfields insurance packages purchased through the private sector to cap estimated cleanup costs.
